The last of them

whatever life is, i try to live it
whatever love is, i try to show it
whatever hope is, i try to hold on to it
whatever peace is, i try to keep it

but if having life means losing it, i will
and if love means giving up my rights, i will
and if hope means believing without seeing, i will
and if peace means being silent in the storm, i will

if all this is meaningless, i will press on
and if i fail i know it will be covered by grace
no one can take that away from me
nothing can stop God from loving His children

it is a mistake to judge others
we need not to look around us when inside we are falling apart
only to look up and ask God to save us from ourselves

and if all in this life fades away tonight
i will be in a better place tomorrow
say goodnight to today and deam of forever

the rain comes and goes but the sky never falls.

More from before

I think this was inspired from the poetry of Kevin from dc Talk where he does that thing at the end of that one album…yeah, you know what I mean.

Lord, find me in this place tonight
Lift me up into the light
Even after all I’ve lost
You came down to pay the cost

But something in my house must give
The chains must break so I can live
My heart is cold, the scars run deep
Only you can see me weep

You should not have had to die
But I must lose myself tonight
A single tear has fallen now
Time stands still, and so I bow

I cannot bear to keep this load
The fight inside has lost its road
My shoulders give, and I collapse
You pick me up into your grasp

(slowly)
Engulf me in your waves of grace
I’ve lost my life and found my place
To die is gain, my sweet embrace
For I long to see your face

Amen.

Improvisational Poetry

May 28, 2008 Craig Comments off

I wrote this awhile ago (April 17, 2004), and I just remembered it’s on an old site but I don’t have a hard copy…I should probably print it out. I guess it was an experiment of free form writing to see what I would come up starting before I had a real sense of what I wanted to say.

A sad story

if only i could see you
if only i could see
if only i could tell you
how lovely it would be

to spare no cost to see you
just one glimpse for me
to know i’m thinking of you
how precious it would be

my wish is not to be you
for beauty is not free
but only to be near you
how tempting it would be

if the only way to have you
was to get on bended knee
i’d fall forever for you
how happy i would be

but you will never see me
for i cannot be seen
my heart is waiting for you
how joyous i would be
